Aims of the Association
Northamptonshire Association for Local History (NALH) is an umbrella organistion for societies and individuals who have an interest in the history of the county.
Our aim is to promote and support the interest in local history and allied interests in Northamptonshire. It provides a forum for the encouragement of local history societies and individual members. It also provides simple lines of communication, information, advice and support for their activities related to local history in the county.
Since its inception in 1995, the Association holds two meetings a year: The annual meeting, usually held in late March, provides two or three presentations on a particular theme in addition to a short business meeting.
In the autumn it encourages, and supports, one of its member societies to hold a Day of History or Heritage Day whereby the chosen society can showcase its local history to other members and the public. Whilst the local society hosts the events, the Association provides all of the management support and publicity required of such an event.
Individual and society members are encouraged to display their own work and publicity material at both of these events, which provide excellent networking opportunities.
