The Data Protection Act 1998

The above Act requires that anyone holding information about others on a computer either registers with the Registrar, which costs money, or complies with certain conditions.

We intend to hold on one, perhaps more, computers the information requested on this Membership Application form.

The first condition is that you must be asked whether you object to this being done. If you do object, PLEASE SAY SO, in which case the information will be held as a photocopy of the Application Form. The second condition is that the information may only be disclosed in limited circumstances, one of which is that you consent to the disclosure.

At present, the only circumstances in which this might be considered is in order to publish a list of members for circulation to other members. If you do not wish your name to be included in such a list, PLEASE SAY SO.
